We are now looking for an engaged counselor for the Deaf Team within Habilitation & Health, Stockholm County Council (SLSO).
The position is located at Sabbatsberg Hospital.
About Us
The Deaf Team is a sign-language specialist service for adults (18+) who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as their relatives.
At our center, sign-language counselors and educators with high Deaf competence work together.
About the Position
As a counselor, you work both individually and in groups.
The work includes:
- Psychosocial support, counseling, crisis, and support conversations
- Curative work and societal information
- Collaboration with authorities and other actors
- Leading and participating in groups and meetings
You will meet a broad target group, including people with cognitive difficulties, people with different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and children of deaf and hard-of-hearing parents. The work takes place both physically and via our digital platform.
We are looking for someone who is
- A Social Worker (Socionom)
- Has very good knowledge of Swedish Sign Language and knowledge of Deaf culture
- Has a genuine commitment to the target group

Meritorious Qualifications
- Experience in curative or social work
- Licensure as a healthcare counselor
- Knowledge in trauma-informed care, MI, ACT, and CFT
- Experience and knowledge regarding ADHD/ASD (NPF) and cognitive disabilities

The position is filled subject to it not being needed for internal reassignment, according to current regulations.
For patient-facing work within Stockholm County Council:
- A register check is applied before the decision on employment according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for register checks upon employment.
- Employees who will have patient contact must undergo a new employment health examination, according to current directives, which takes place through occupational health services before employment.
- In addition to a Swedish professional license, good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required. The same requirement is guiding for non-licensed staff with patient contact.
